About Me

I was born and raised in NYC and am living in CT right now.  I am a married woman as of April 2nd, 2011.  I had a beautiful spring themed wedding and I enjoyed finding inspiration for it from all over the web.  I made this blog because, as I was planning my wedding and looking for inspiration on the web, I noticed that beautiful plus size brides weren’t really glorified in the wedding industry.  I started this blog to inspire other plus size brides to feel, look their best and also get inspiration for their wedding.

Me on my wedding day.

  1. I got married in 2010, and although I am not plus sized, I do know what you mean about plus sized brides not being represented equally in the industry….Doesn’t help either that all wedding dresses are actually two sizes smaller than actual dress sizes (i.e. if you are a size 8, you usually need to try on a size 12 wedding dress) For a person self-conscious about their weight, this doesn’t really help!

Anyways, great idea for a blog! Good luck with it! 🙂

    • You are so right about that! My sister was my maid of honor and she is a size 4. The woman at the bridal store suggested for her to get a size 4 and it was way too small when she got it! So true that the plus size gals aren’t the only ones having problems with sizes!

  2. i love this!!! great idea, lady!

  5. So true!! The size-thing, I mean. I am a little chubby but alway considered myself ok (well, I am, of course!), but those saleswomen at the stores totally freaked me out. They looked at me as if me getting married were such a bizarre occurrence they would have to tell their friend about after work. I am a size 12 and although they had dozens of pretty dresses in smaller sizes they only had two or three in size 12 or up. And of course I needed a 16. The wedding industry certainly does no good in comforting brides. So thanks a lot for this blog, I wish I’d know about it a year ago, it would have helped me a lot!

    • Thanks a lot for this comment. I haven’t been posting anything recently because, aside from the real brides who read this who don’t have daddy wiping their butts with 100 dollar bills, the wedding industry doesn’t seem to take to it very well. I’m looking to feature weddings that are the real deal. Not any of this super ritzy crap that you see all over other wedding blogs. The thing is I know there are people out there (like I once was) who are looking to save money on their wedding, especially in this recession. It seems a lot of photographers are just flat out shy to submit any wedding that doesn’t look like it was a $50,000 wedding. I suppose I will just keep on doing my thing for the readers if anything at all. If you notice, I don’t have any advertisements on this blog. I do this because I love writing and I want to help others. Thank you so much for these words of encouragement.
